1. Where can I dispose of old /unused prescriptions?

You can dispose of unused or expired medication for free in the drug collection kiosk in the lobby if the Bay Village Police Department located at 28000 Wolf Road, Bay Village Ohio 44140.  Please see the Community Policing Services & Programs page for more information on this program and what can and cannot be collected.

2. Where can I get a bicycle license?

Residents can obtain a free bicycle license at the Bay Village Police Department. Bike registration is encouraged as it helps the police department find the owners of recovered bicycles. You can complete the online Bicycle License Application Form (PDF) and bring it to the Police Station, or complete an application form at the Police Station. You will need the following information about your bicycle: make, model, and serial number (usually stamped into the metal on the underside of the frame, between the pedals).   

3. Where can I dispose of an American flag?

Flags may be dropped off at two locations in Bay Village. The first and primary location is American Legion Post #385 at 695 Cahoon Road, Westlake, just across the railroad tracks from Bay Village. There is a red, white, and blue collection box attached to the wall beside the door.

Additionally, flags can be dropped off inside the Bay Village Police Department reception area. There is a small white bin to the right of the reception window. This bin is collected by Bay Village VFW Post 9693, which meets at the Bay Village Police Department.

All flags from the two Bay Village locations (American Legion and VFW) are disposed of with proper protocol twice a year at the American Legion Post on Cahoon Road. 

An additional disposal location is at American Legion Post 211 at 31973 Walker Road, Avon Lake. There is an old mail box outside marked for flag disposal. American Legion Post 211 takes care of the proper disposal for the flags collected there.

5. How do I schedule use of the Police Department Community Room?

The Community Room is available for Bay Village civic groups and non-profit organizations.  The meeting room can accommodate up to 50 people.  Please email Maureen Cole, Secretary to the Chief of Police, or contact her by phone at 440-899-3413.

6. Is solicitation permitted in Bay Village?

Solicitors are required to apply for permits issued through the Bay Village Police Department. Non-profit organizations are exempt. Solicitation hours are 9 am to 8 pm, or sunset, whichever is earlier, Monday through Saturday. No soliciting on Sunday or any legal state or federal holiday. 

Free stickers (PDF) are available at the Police Station that you can post on your property that state: No peddlers, solicitors or canvassers allowed.

No soliciting is permitted at homes on the Do Not Knock Registry. The registry is updated every two weeks.  It is the responsibility of the Solicitor/Peddler to have a current printed list with them when out soliciting. 

To register for the Do Not Knock program, fill out the online form or contact the Police Department at 440-871-1234.  Paper application forms are also available at City Hall, the Police Department, and Dwyer Senior Center. 

7. How can I pay a parking ticket?

Payment of parking tickets can be made by inserting payment into the violation envelope, signing the "Appearance, Plea of Guilty & Waiver" section, sealing, placing proper postage and dropping in the mail. Payment can also be made by paying in person at the Bay Village Police Department, 28000 Wolf Road. Payment may be made by cash or check.

To avoid a penalty, payment must be made within 72 hours of the offense. Below is a list outlining the fines per Ordinance 351.99.

8. How do I get a copy of a police report?

9. Does the Police Department do fingerprinting for a record check?

The Bay Village Police Department no longer completes fingerprint cards for Bay Village residents requiring fingerprint record checks for employment, securities, adoption, etc. Several private companies in the Westshore area provide this service for a fee. You may contact the Police Department at 440-871-1234 if you are having difficulty locating a service.

10. What do I do if my car was towed?

You will need a release form from the Bay Village Police before Patton’s will let you have your vehicle.

11. Does Bay Village have any parking restrictions?

Bay Village Ordinance 351.15 prohibits parking a motor vehicle on any street for a period of time longer than 30 minutes between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of any day, except persons on emergency calls.  Also, no person shall park a motor vehicle on any street for a period of time longer than six hours between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

12. How late can I play music, mow my lawn, etc?

Bay Village Ordinance 509.09 prohibits excessive noise, such as dogs barking, lawn mowing, loud music, before 8 am and after 9 pm. Snow removal equipment, during snowfall, is exempt.  

13. Does Bay Village have a curfew?

Under C.O. Section 531.01, the City of Bay Village prohibits children under fifteen years of age from being on city streets and sidewalks between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am.  Children older than fifteen years of age but under the age of eighteen may not be on public streets and sidewalks between 1:00 am and 5:00 am. 

Columbia Road Beach closes at dusk; all other parks close at 11:00 pm.
