Message from the Fire Department.
Annual Hydrant Maintenance Begins September 11th, 2023
Each year we inspect and test every hydrant in the city to ensure proper function, pressure, and maintenance.
We will post temporary signs at all the entrances to the city as a reminder that the program is ongoing and until we have concluded. We will also notify City Hall each morning of our work area for the day. Please note that hydrants are tested between 8:30am and 3:30pm. Weather permitting, this work will be completed by mid-October.
Since hydrant maintenance procedures can loosen some of the rust in the water mains, you may notice rusty or discolored water when we are testing in your area. If this happens, let your cold water run for a few minutes until it is clear again. Should any rusty water end up accidentally in your laundry, the Fire Department will have a supply of rust remover packets. Call 440-871-1214 for more information, or just stop in at the Fire Station.
