Emergency Preparedness

The spring break is effective at the end of the school day on March 16th. The city has been following guidance and recommendations from federal, state and county health officials. Cases continue to be identified throughout the State of Ohio increasing the Governor’s concern for public health and the spread of COVID-19. The Governor and Dr. Acton believe that the number of cases will continue to grow. Limiting contact with others along with proper hand washing hygiene is essential to controlling the coronavirus.

Effective Saturday, March 14th the following changes will be implemented for Bay Village public buildings and city services.

Dwyer Senior Center

All activities, classes, and transportation services will be suspended and the building will be closed to the public. The Meals on Wheels program will continue at this time. Recipients are asked to place a cooler with an ice pack outside their door for the meals. Residents needing assistance with social services or questions may contact the Dwyer Center at 440-899-3442.

Recreation Department

All recreation programming and classes will be suspended, and the Community Gym and recreation offices will be closed to the public. Please contact the Recreation Department with questions on rescheduling classes/refunds at 440-871-6755.

Police Department

All non-essential meetings have been cancelled. All public activities in the police station community room have been suspended.

Fire Department

All non-essential meetings have been cancelled. Public tours of the fire station have been cancelled.

City Hall / Building Department

All non-essential meetings have been cancelled. Public access to City Hall is primarily for Building Department related matters. The Building Department has postponed rental inspections and any interior inspections will be on a limited basis. Exterior inspections will continue as scheduled. Building department counter hours will continue on a reduced schedule between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Meetings of City Council, Boards and Commissions, when scheduled, will be open to the public. For additional information, please contact the mayor’s office at 440-899-3416 or front desk operations at 440-871-2200.

Service Department

All non-essential meetings have been cancelled. The building and grounds will be closed to the public. The sale of mulch and wood chips will be suspended and the household hazardous waste collection scheduled for March 27th has been cancelled. Residents needing assistance may contact the Service Department at 440-871-1221.

Facility rentals- Bay Lodge

Upcoming facility rentals have been suspended. Groups will be contacted to reschedule. Please email Finance Director Renee Mahoney at 440-899-3432 with questions.

Changes to city services and buildings will be in effect through Sunday April 12th. The city will continue to follow guidance from the Governor, local, state, and federal health officials and reevaluate the above closures and suspension of services based on information received from these authorities.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on the suspension of services. We realize that these changes will create hardships for many of you, but the public health of our community outweighs these inconveniences.
